Read & Sign the Petition
This petition has the power to put comprehensive, single-stream recycling into Chatham County policy.
The economy will rise and fall, but environmental policy like curbside recycling needs to be part of the infrastructure of the community, if it is truly to be “green.”
After being successful in 2007 with circulating a petition to bring about curbside recycling in the City of Savannah, Chatham County citizens are asking for the same opportunity after the Chatham County Commission postponed curbside recycling indefinitely.
It took well over a year from the first signature to the start of Savannah’s recycling pick up. But it was worth the wait—50% of the city’s residents are diverting their trash from the landfill.
It is completely reasonable that it takes time to put a curbside program into place. The time is now to get started on the process. So in a year’s time, the citizens of this county can too engage in best environmental practices.

Chatham County cannot be left behind. We must join the 21st century and conserve, recycle and reuse. Let’s move the county forward.
Would love curbside recycling, even a good Lake Meyer recycling drop off site.
We have to take our recycleables to HAAF every other month. Come on, Chtham County! Get with it. recycling is here and only Chatham County is behind the eight ball.
Recycling is not difficult.
Would love curbside recycling in Chatham County.
Let’s develop a plan and get moving on recycling.
Sincerely, R.S. Glenn 31411
County Commissioners said they wanted to be the greenest County in Georgia. Can’t be green without recycling — it’s basic. This should be an easy first step.
It’s about time!! I have been recycling for over 30 years! It has been quite difficult to find drop off places here in Savannah. It’s about time we join the rest of the country..
